Trend

Also known as: uptrend, downtrend, trending

A trend is defined by structure: an uptrend makes higher highs and higher lows; a downtrend makes lower highs and lower lows; sideways is neither. Judging trend by this objective sequence (not by feel) tells you whether to favour buying, selling, or staying out — the trend is intact until the structure breaks.
