Risk of ruin is the chance you’re wiped out and can’t recover. The sobering math: even a winning edge leads to near-certain ruin if you bet too large a fraction per trade, because inevitable losing streaks will eventually wipe out an over-sized bettor (gambler’s ruin). Small position sizing is what drives ruin risk toward zero.
