Sunk-Cost Fallacy

Also known as: sunk cost

The sunk-cost fallacy is continuing a losing investment because of money or time already spent (“I’ve already lost so much, I can’t sell now”). But spent money is gone and irrelevant — only future prospects should drive the decision. The test: would you buy this today with fresh cash? If not, the sunk cost is the only thing keeping you in.
