Physical Settlement

Also known as: physical delivery

Under physical settlement, in-the-money stock derivatives are settled by actually delivering (and paying for) the underlying shares at expiry, rather than exchanging cash. In India, stock F&O is physically settled, so traders must square off or be ready to take/give delivery.
