Lower Circuit
Also known as: lower circuit limit, lc
A lower circuit is the floor (2-20% below the previous close, per the stock’s band) beyond which a price cannot fall that day. At the limit there are often only sellers and no buyers — meaning holders who want out may be trapped for days as the stock opens at successive lower circuits. It is the mirror-image risk of the upper circuit, and the reason position sizing matters in small caps.
